Recipes for Iron Bowl Success
Even if you’re not from the South, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the Iron Bowl. Every year the University of Alabama and Auburn University football teams face-off in their annual showdown that has taken place on the same weekend for almost 70 years.
There are 365 days of bragging rights on the line… and potentially A LOT more. Some Iron Bowl games are more memorable than others, and the teams’ fans can recite those game-changing moments and plays right down to the very last second (just ask the Auburn fans).
In more recent years, Alabama has been the team to beat, but the Iron Bowl is definitely no game to enter into with too much confidence. Anything could happen, so make sure your viewing party or tailgate is equipped with enough booze and food to get you through this stressful, yet exciting game.
Game Day Cocktails
This year’s Iron Bowl will be played in Auburn, so if you’re an Alabama fan no worries about getting your Yellow Hammer fix. I have a Skinny Yellow Hammer drink recipe you can make at home and take with you to the big game.
As for Auburn fans, just stop by Toomer’s Corner to get one of their famous Toomer’s Lemonades and spike it yourself, or get the Boozy Toomer’s Lemonade recipe here and make plenty to share!
Best Game Day Appetizers
Fuel up for the game by serving some appetizers before the main event. Guacamole, deviled eggs, and hot spinach artichoke dip are all great starters to put in your Iron Bowl lineup!
