This new laundry room just leveled me up in my housewife game! Bravo, call me.
If you don’t know, I’m a huge fan of the Real Housewives TV shows on the Bravo network. I know they aren’t for everyone, but I find the shows both fascinating and funny. Beverly Hills, New York, and Salt Lake City are my favorite franchises to watch and are honestly the only way to get me to sit down and enjoy folding a bunch of laundry. UNTIL NOW! I’m obsessed with my laundry room makeover and I’m so excited to share it with you today.
Using only peel & stick wallpaper, a board and batten wall treatment, and a few floating shelves we turned this boring laundry room into something beautiful!

Earlier this year, I shared my 3 goals for the year. For 2022, one of my short-term goals was to get my home organized. I started with my kitchen, made my way into my bathroom, and the final and biggest project was the laundry room.
Laundry is something I loath… can you relate?
Not only was my laundry room unorganized, but it was also uninspiring.
Let’s face it. Laundry isn’t necessarily hard, it’s just boring. I decided I needed to kick my bad attitude about doing laundry and one of the best ways to fall in love with something is to put a bow on it and make it pretty.

If you’ve been following along and reading my home decor blog for the past two years, then you’ve been on a major journey with me! In 2020 we started building our first house and it was one such a fun experience. Over the last few years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed making it a home that we love, enjoy, and get to share with others.
Comment and let me know which room reveal has been your favorite so far!

I know many people say that travel is the best way to spend your money and that experiences are a better way to spend your money rather than on materials things, but I firmly believe that your home is a great place to invest. If your home sparks joy and inspiration each day – heck, even each time you walk into a room, then that’s an experience that pays dividends!
For this laundry room makeover, I knew I wanted a ton of color, texture, and personality. What do you think of the final result? I’m so pleased with how everything came together!

Laundry Room Wallpaper
Wallpaper is having a moment right now, and I don’t see that going away anytime soon. If you’ve been thinking about incorporating wallpaper into your home, this is your sign to go for it. I know choosing wallpaper can be somewhat of a challenge, but I’m here to help!
We installed wallpaper in Emma’s nursery and I loved the outcome so much that I was itching to do it in another room in our house.
Wallpaper can make such an impact on a room! I find myself saving dozens of wallpaper inspiration photos on Pinterest every week. I just can’t get enough! Some of the most popular places to put wallpaper in the home are laundry rooms, nurseries, and small hall bathrooms.

Along the way, I learned a few tips on wallpaper, and I’m happy to share them with you! Here are my top tips to know before wallpapering any room in your house.
1. Mock-up up the space online to make sure the wallpaper fits with your color scheme & overall vision. It’s an investment (time and money) so you want to make sure you love it! Here’s a tutorial on how I mock up my rooms.
2. Measure measure measure before buying your rolls. If you suck at measuring hire a professional. Also, order samples to view the paper in person!
3. Always over-order if you aren’t sure if you’ll have enough. WHY? You shouldn’t order the same wallpaper in different orders because you need to ensure that all your rolls are coming from the same “run” in production. If you place multiple orders, you can’t be sure that there aren’t any color, pattern, or other slight variations in your paper.
Lastly, research Peel and Stick vs Traditional – for the nursery I went with traditional paper because I wanted it to be able to withstand high traffic & accidents💩 🖍 and I read that the traditional wallpaper is easier to wipe down.

For my laundry room project, I decided to try peel & stick wallpaper because I wanted a comparison to traditional so I could offer my suggestion to you. So here’s the tea about peel & stick wallpaper vs traditional wallpaper:
Personally, I’m always going to hire someone to professionally install wallpaper in my home no matter the material. This is typically highly recommended if you are going the traditional wallpaper route because traditional wallpaper requires more skills, tools, and materials. However, after talking to my wallpaper lady, she said peel & stick is almost harder to install than traditional wallpaper because of how sticky the adhesive is. She said you definitely need two people to install peel & stick wallpaper. However, it does require fewer tools and you can easily take it down which is great for renters.
We partnered with Chasing Paper on this laundry room project and loved our experience using their peel & stick wallpaper! Their designs are SO fun and they make viewing it in different ways really easy and interactive on their website. Chasing Paper offers both peel & stick, and traditional wallpaper options.
The exact wallpaper we used in our laundry room is Chasing Paper – Jaipur – Mindy Green
Ok, enough on wallpaper (even though I could talk about it for hours). I know you are here for ALL the details on my laundry room makeover!

Laundry Room Organization
In many laundry rooms, you’ll find great cabinetry which is a fabulous way to store and organize all of your laundry items, as well as other household items like light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc.
For my particular project, I wanted the wallpaper to be able to shine as much as possible so I opted for open shelving. I chose these white floating shelves and love the way they look. They aren’t super deep, so I wanted to note that for you. But they display my most used laundry items perfectly and are much more aesthetically pleasing than the builder-grade wiring shelf that was here before!
One thing we LOVE that our builder put in was this little cubby/storage room under the stairs. This area is where I’m storing all the items I listed above, plus so much more! Such a great use of space.
Laundry Room Folding Station
When designing my laundry room makeover and coming up with laundry room design ideas, I knew that a folding station was nonnegotiable. For me, there’s nothing worse than lugging a heap of unfolded clothes all over the house to find a spot to fold it. Plus you know half of it is going to fall out of your arms on the way!

This large white table is the perfect spot for sorting, folding, and treating stains. It has a plastic sheen on top so it’s not raw wood and won’t snag your clothes. It also repels liquid nicely.
I’ve always loved sharing stain solutions for cushions, and you know I love a performance fabric because life does indeed get messy! But recently, I’ve fallen in love with treating stains on clothes.
One night after I let Emma eat a BBQ rib with a Little English outfit on, I quickly regretted that decision and spent all night testing different stain solutions and techniques to remove BBQ stains. I found that this stain removing bundle from The Laundress is BOMB! Since then, I’ve gotten blood out of a skirt, and pit stains out of my husbands golf shirts using their stain solution mixed with their bleach alternative.

Another design element I knew I needed to incorporate into the laundry room design was a hang-dry station.
Emma and I both have items that are constantly needing to be hung up to dry, so I created a fabulously functional way to hang our most precious items. I used this french drapery rod and these gold drapery rings from Amazon to create a modern-day clothesline! For jeans and larger items that need to be hung up to try, I hang them on these bamboo hooks.

I feel so enthusiastic about doing laundry now! The many (4) months of planning, buying and returning products, and hiring help was well worth the wait. If you’re looking for ways to fall in love with doing laundry, I’ve got some tips!
Here are 5 tips for how to make yourself fall in love with laundry:
- Be Grateful – First, you need to come at it with a grateful heart & mind. We are beyond grateful to have laundry to do, as well as a roof over our heads, running water, and electricity to make it pretty darn easy
- Get Organized – Make sure you have everything you need, and make sure it’s in a dedicated spot so you can speed up the laundry process
- Get a laundry smell you love – I’ve found that I’m way more excited to do laundry when I have products that I love to use. For me, that’s either DIVA or The Laundress products
- Have a dedicated spot to fold – when designing my laundry room makeover and coming up with laundry room ideas, I knew that a folding station was nonnegotiable. For me, there’s nothing worse than lugging a heap of unfolding clothes all over the house to find a spot to fold it. Plus you know half of it is going to fall out of your arms on the way!
- Add some visual interest – art, wallpaper, and rugs are all great decor items to add to give your laundry room the personality it deserves
