Happy Holidays, Everyone! I seriously cannot believe we are already in the month of December. Personally, I have had a crazy year as I’m sure many of you have as well. During the Pandemic, we built our new home and because of our amazing builder, we were able to stay on our timeline and move in at the end of May! Another notable and unexpected event… I lost my job. Last but not least, I had a skin cancer surgically removed from my face (that was fun). Amidst all the craziness of this year, I have to constantly stop and be so incredibly thankful for all that I have! Most importantly my health and my relationships. Because, at the end of the day, that’s really all you need!
For an extra big mood booster, I decided to decorate for Christmas early this year!
Holiday Decorating Ideas for the Entire Home
I’m so glad I decided to get my Christmas decor shopping done early this year for a few reasons. First, I got prime picking on the best faux trees. I hope you are following me on Instagram where I share my daily finds online! A few of you were also able to snag my 10.5-foot tree for under $500! The second reason I’m glad I decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving, was for the fact that I was able to play around with the decor and see where I wanted things to go in the new house. Next year, I’ll be able to spend less time planning and decorating, and more time enjoying the last few weeks of Fall!
Christmas Tree Themes
I love exploring Pinterest and Instagram for all the Christmas tree inspiration. It’s truly amazing all the detail some people put into decorating their tree each year. I think choosing a theme for your tree is a great place to start when you are feeling stuck. I personally have been so inspired by Scandanavian Christmas design and really admire the simplicity and organic feel of this aesthetic.
This holiday, I partnered with Wrapsody for all the perfect tree trimmings! They have all these amazing feather ornaments, woodsy picks, and large rustic-colored ornaments that went so well together! If you are ever in Alabama, be sure to check out their locations in person! It’s like an Anthropologie store that is so well decorated for each season. Forest-Inspired Christmas Tree
When choosing ornaments for this woodsy / forest-themed Christmas tree, I started with selecting the big anchor ornaments. I typically get ornaments in sets of 3 or 5 and zig-zag them down the tree for a well-balanced look. Before adding any of the ornaments to the tree, I first add garland. I had some mercury ball garland leftover from last year and I mixed that in with this wood-beaded garland. After the garland is strung, it’s time to add your big ornaments and fill in with your smaller ornaments. The last step I took in decorating my tree was finishing with dried grass and wheat picks throughout. This helps fill in any holes and create a completely full tree!
Holiday Mantle Decorating Ideas
The mantle is one of the most satisfying places to decorate for Christmas! It’s typically one of the main focal points in a home and draws a lot of eyes during the holidays. Why? Well Santa and stockings, of course!
This year I purchased real pine tree garland from a local store in Birmingham called Davis Wholesale Florist. The garland was about $50 and is ready starting to dry up after a week. However, I’m hoping I can preserve it with this spray for a bit. Good-looking faux garland can be a little expensive, but I do think it’s worth the investment. I splurged on some faux greenery a few years back and I have it placed in my foyer. You can see that below!

Christmas Decor for Kitchen
I’ve always loved seeing how people decorate their kitchens for Christmas. After all, that’s where all the sweetest things are made during the holidays. My kitchen pendant lights already remind me so much of Christmas bells with their antique brass finish. So, I opted to keep the holiday decor in my kitchen minimal by draping fresh garland over my range hood. Easy and festive!
Thank you so much for stopping by my holiday open house! I have really enjoyed sharing my home decor with you all this year, it has brought me so much joy. I’m looking forward to sharing new room reveals soon. Stay tuned!
