SURPRISE! We are pregnant! I’m so excited to finally announce that my husband Ty and I will be expecting our first child in 2021. Over the years, this website has turned more into a lifestyle-centered blog, so I am looking forward to covering all things baby for y’all! I think most of you will be looking forward to my home decor and nursery updates, while some of you will be jonesing for my new cocktail/mocktail recipes! I will still be covering all my normal topics, but just with a little bump sprinkled in š¤°š¼
Today, I’m answering some of the most frequently asked questions I received from my audience on Instagram. Let’s dive in!
Q: Do y’all have baby names picked out?
A: Yes and no. We started brainstorming really early and thought we were set on a few good options, but as we get deeper and deeper into the pregnancy we aren’t quite as sure. We haven’t landed on anything super concrete yet!
Q: Will y’all find out the gender or is it a surprise?
A: We will be finding out the gender! My husband can hardly stand it. He’s dying to know. I’m a little more chill about it.
Q: How did you tell your husband and what was his reaction?
A: Ty (my husband) has been wanting to have children for about 8-9 months now. He always has talked about having children and so he is really vested in the entire process. It’s so cute! We found out together at the same time as I was taking at-home pregnancy tests.
Q: Where y’all trying to get pregnant, if so, for how long have you been trying to conceive?
A: Yes, we were trying. I haven’t been on birth control since we got married 4 years ago. Up until recently, we have just been focusing on natural family planning (protection, tracking cycle, etc). We were shocked, surprised, excited, feeling lucky/blessed when we got pregnant on the first try!
Q: Did you find out about your skin cancer before or after pregnancy?
A: Before! I got my MOHS surgery in July and we didn’t get pregnant until September
Q: What Prenatal Vitamins are you taking
A: I am taking these Zahler prenatal vitamins with DHA
Q: What’s your due date?
A: June 2, 2021
Q: Do you feel like you are having a boy or a girl?
A: Since the beginning, I’ve had a strong feeling that it will be a girl. BUT you never know! 50/50 chance!
Q: What doctor are you using?
A: I’m seeing a doctor at St. Vincents
Q: Has it been hard not drinking?
A: To be honest, I thought this would be WAY harder than it actually has been. I actually got to a point right before I got pregnant where I was SO tired of the constant social / drinking lifestyle. I was kinda looking for a reason to stop… ask and you shall receive!
I love the feeling of not being hungover or having low energy the day after drinking! However, I will say that the first trimester has some symptoms/side effects that are VERY similar to a hangover so you sort of start thinking well this isn’t much better. Now that I’m into my second trimester, the nausea, fatigue, and foggy feelings are so much better / almost disappeared.
Q: Food cravings or aversions?
During my first trimester, I am SO thankful I never physically got sick (throwing up). I did have a strong sense of smell and some food aversions. I was mostly turned off by fast food and meat. For a while there I was on a fancy toast kick and smoothie kick (almost butter toast + bananas OR avocado toast with toppings). For a few weeks there, I was driving nearly 25 minutes to get my smoothie fix from this one specific place I was craving.
Other things I have been loving:
- Peanut butter
- Grapefruit
- Apple
- Toast
- Smoothies
- Water and Gatorade
- Long baths
- Rest / naps
We are looking forward to finding out the gender soon! Any guesses?!
