As you can well imagine, Summer in the South is hot, hot, hot. But that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the outdoors. We became homeowners 2 years ago and we are still realizing how much work owning a home can be. We have definitely learned that the upkeep of two yards is no simple task. Between work and travel, we don’t have much time to tend to grass or plants. Thus, we started looking for ways to spruce up the patios in ways that wouldn’t require a ton of care and attention. Say hello to low-maintenance plants and outdoor performance fabrics!
Yard work is hard work. Thus, we make sure to have plenty of Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water to stay hydrated. Drinking a few of these 25.3 fl. oz. Acqua Panna bottles throughout the day keep us going. It has the smoothest taste! Acqua Panna is new to Walmart.com and you can choose delivery or schedule an in-store pickup. Very convenient!

Bottled at the source in Tuscany, its origins provide the water with a unique composition of minerals for the smoothest taste.
Last year we reconfigured the layout of our outdoor patio and I love the way it’s set up now. See the before and afters here. It has more of an open concept now and is ready for entertaining and dining al fresco! Recently, we invested in some new outdoor furniture pieces and I can’t wait to share them! Thankful for these gorgeous furniture pieces and patio plants because our sweet little puppy has made it impossible to grow grass in our backyard!
Low Maintenance Outdoor Plants
Since our grass has a hard time growing so we decided to add other types of patio plants and greenery to our pea gravel area. Before throwing on the gardening gloves, I visit my local shop to see what plants and advice they have.
We aren’t the best at remembering to tend to the plants on a daily basis, so I wanted to choose outdoor plants that are relatively low maintenance. Here are some great options for outdoor plants that don’t require a ton of attention:
- Succulents
- Kimberly Ferns
- Catmint
- Mona Lavender
- Coral Bells
- Types of grasses

Outdoor Accessories
The addition of potted plants is the perfect way to naturally accessorize your outdoor space! I planted some basil and lemongrass together as I’ve heard lemongrass can he helpful at warding off mosquitos. There wasn’t enough room on either side of the sectional to have outdoor side tables, so I opted for these garden stools to double as ottomans or drinking tables.
Another fun way to accessorize your outdoor patio is with performance pillows. These are my absolute favorite finds for the patio! Not only are these pillows pretty enough to use inside, but they are also durable enough to keep outside. It’s so nice knowing I don’t have to pull them inside each time it storms. We are all about that low-maintenance life!
Last year when we finished revamping our back patio, I had just started a new job working for an outdoor furniture company. Funny timing, right? Well, their pieces are beautiful and over the past year, I have started to accumulate more of their furniture pieces to replace the ones we had. The dining table is the only remaining piece and is still holding up pretty well! See below for more info on the new pieces added.
