Southern BLT
If you’re from the South then you know what the letters B.L.T stand for in the culinary world.
This classic sandwich trio is at its best during the Summer when tomatoes are in season, but I’ll eat one just about anytime of the year. These three ingredients are great on their own, but in recent years I have started to experiment with adding more to this beloved staple. I mean, can we talk about a fried green tomato BLT? How about adding a little pimento cheese….another Southern classic! Oh yes, turkey too! Heck, I’ll add all of those at one time!
Now that we’ve got something to snack on, a good drink to accompany it is a necessity, and since we Southerners love BLT’s so much, why not fashion a cocktail out of this lovely acronym?
BLT Cocktail
Three simple ingredients have never tasted so good together.
Bourbon, Lemon and Tonic
I am not a bourbon girl, but this cocktail has become just about the only way I will drink it. There’s no real recipe associated with this libation, because it’s all about your bourbon and tonic preferences. See below for some of my favorites to use when making a BLT.
Bourbon, Lemon and Tonic
Here are a few brands of bourbon my friends and family like to use when mixing their BLT, followed by my top picks for tonics.
Bourbon Brands
- Blanton’s
- Old Forester (Birthday Bourbon)
- Knob Creek
- Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel

- Buffalo Trace
