Healthy Hot Chocolate
This Winter has been a cold-hearted B, and if you’re like me, I bet you’ve been sick — sick and tired — of the cold since day one. We have a trip planned for Miami in March and it can’t come soon enough!
The cold temperatures show no signs of stopping, and it appears another snow day is upon us this week. In Alabama when we hear snow, sheer panic sets in!! I know other states like to poke fun, but it can ice over very quickly and since we don’t experience the wintry stuff that often, the equipment and manpower to clear it fast are in short supply. For the best advice, we turn to Birmingham’s own meteorologist, James Spann. He is saying the patterns of this winter storm are showing a resemblance to the snowmageddon of 2014. No worries, Shipt brought our milk and bread yesterday!
Superfood Hot Chocolate Recipe
I recently have been turned on to Philosophie superfood blends which are raw, gluten-free, and have absolutely no filler ingredients. To incorporate more greens and antioxidants into my diet, I ordered the Cacao Magic flavor to make peanut butter and banana smoothies. I then discovered I could make a super delicious and healthy hot chocolate with it, too!
See recipe and instructions below for this immune-boosting hot chocolate drink.
2 Tbsp Cacao Magic from Philosophie
4 cups of almond milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp honey or sugar
•Top with marshmallows
My Dash blender has a soup setting that blends and heats in 8 minutes. If your blender doesn’t have this feature, just blend all ingredients and then heat over the stove!
