Best Cocktails to Make this Holiday
The appetizers are all ready for your holiday party, so now we’re moving on the the main attraction of any party… the bar! It’s so fun to have a signature cocktail to drink during the holidays. Almost all of these recipes will mention simply syrup, and for those of you who don’t quite know how to make it, it’s super easy! Just add equal parts water and sugar to saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved. Now, that we’ve got that covered, you’re almost ready to be a certified bartender. All you need is a couple of creative cocktail recipes!
1. Southern Spice
Ingredients: Simple Syrup // Fresh Ginger Root // Orange // Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale // Cranberry Juice
In small saucepan heat equal parts sugar and water to make a simple syrup. Use a fine grater to grate 1-2 tablespoons of fresh ginger into the syrup and let simmer on low for 9-12 minutes. Remove from heat and strain simple syrup to through a fine mesh strainer.
Add ice to low ball glass and half-moon of an orange slice.
Add 1 tbsp of ginger simple syrup, 1.5 oz Vodka, 3 oz of cranberry juice and top with Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale.
1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 water should make enough syrup for 5-6 drinks.
2. B.L.T – Bourbon, Lemon & Tonic
Ingredients: Bourbon // Fresh Lemon Juice // Tonic Water
In low ball glass, add large ice cubes or ice sphere, combine 2 oz Bourbon, 1 oz fresh lime juice and top with Tonic Water.
Garnish with lemon.
Tip: Make a BLT bar at your next party and let your guests choose their own bourbon.
You can even get creative with the types of tonic you serve if you visit a specialty store!
3. Rosemary Champagne
Ingredients: Sugar+Water // Fresh Rosemary // Champagne, Prosecco or Sparkling Wine
Bring equal parts sugar and water to a simmer over medium-high heat. Once sugar has dissolved, add in 3+ sprigs of rosemary.
Stir for 1 minute and remove from heat.
Allow herbs to steep in simple syrup for atleast 20 minutes. The longer they steep the deeper the flavor. Steep up to 4 hours.
Add 1 tbsp of rosemary simple syrup to a champagne flute and fill with champs!
4. Raspberry Moscow Mule
Ingredients: 5 oz fresh raspberries // Vodka // Limes // Ginger Beer // Mint // Simple Syrup
Place 5 oz. raspberries (1 small package) and 1/2 cup of simple syrup into blender or food processor. Blend until pureed.
Pour raspberry mixture through extra fine mesh strainer to catch any seeds that weren’t blended
To assemble one cocktail, add ice to Moscow mule mug, 1 tablespoon of raspberry puree, 1.5 oz of vodka, 1 tablespoon lime juice and top with ginger beer. Stir and enjoy!
5. Pomegranate Margarita
Ingredients: Silver Tequila // Sugar or Salt for Rim // Fresh Limes // Triple Sec (or simple syrup) // Pomegranate Juice (Pomwonderful) // Club Soda
Cut lime into 4 wedges.
Cover small plate with coarse salt or sugar
Use one lime wedge to coat the rim of your glass and then rub rim with sugar or salt.
Add ice, 1.5 oz silver tequila, 1 oz Triple Sec, 1.5 oz pomegranate juice, and the juice of two limes.
Stir and garnish with a lime. Cheers!
