Potatoes au Gratin

  • 4-6 Yukon gold potatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup half and half milk
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese freshly grated
  • salt and pepper
  • chives for garnish


  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees

  2. Wash and dry potatoes 

  3. Using either a sharp knife, mandolin, or a slicer attachment to a food processor, slice potatoes very thin at around ⅛ inch thickness 

  4.  Measure out 1 cup of milk and add in garlic. Stir together. 

  5. Grease your baking dish and start with the first layer of potatoes, stacking them like dominos on top of each other. Add salt and pepper to potatoes and then add a layer of milk. 

  6. Repeat this until all ingredients have been added to baking dish 

  7. Top with cheese and bake at 400 degrees on middle rack for 35-40 minutes 

  8. If you want the top to brown even more, move dish to top rack in the oven for last 10 minutes
